Anyone got plantation shutters in a north facing room?

Just that really. We have a large north facing room with two fairly big windows. It also has large double doors into a bright south facing room. But - it is a little dark as a room. We currently have hideous curtains which need replacing. Would really love plantation shutters (which we have elsewhere), just worrying it will make the room even darker. Anyone got them and has there been a problem with the light in the room? Thank you

Yes - very similar to your set up, north facing room with large window and glass doors to south facing room. We have half height shutters only with large louvres (so large gaps for light) and it works well. In fact we’ve painted the room a dark colour and there’s still enough light. I wouldn’t want full height shutters there though.

We had half height ones and they made it really dark. They were plain medium wood though. I’ve got pale linen curtains now. Shame as I do love the look of shutters.

We would have white shutters but they would need to be full height for various reasons. Think I’ll try some quote and see what we think! Thank you

DM does and it makes the room very, very gloomy. I'd avoid if I could.

We have full height shutters on a large bay window in a north facing room. It was the "front room" but we knocked through the wall dividing it from the "back room" so it does now benefit from the light coming from the south facing patio doors, however I still would have got them if it was two separate rooms. Initially you notice it's a bit darker, but really not an issue and we're really happy with them.

We have some fantastic plantation style blinds for this very reason
