Are they any good? Or is John Lewis better? Bit sick of sofa.com as feel the quality has deteriorated over the years

My last one is from Next. It's very high quality, cushions holding up and looks great.

WhatILoved · 08/01/2020 19:48

Hadn't thought of them. Thanks

We've got 3 M&S sofas, bought 11 years ago, 1 leather, the others a velvety/chenille type fabric. They have lasted really well, just a bit of wear on the leather cushions. We're replacing them soon, but only because we fancy a change.

DickDewy · 08/01/2020 20:56

We had 2 M&S sofas, the sofas before last. They were fantastic and like new after 5 years. The ones after were from Next and were also really good after 4 years of abuse.

(We are serial sofa changers)

Stayawayfromitsmouth · 08/01/2020 20:56

We have 2 fabric m&s sofas which are over 15years old. Still going strong. Can't comment on the newer stuff though.

pontiouspilates · 08/01/2020 20:57

I am really pleased with our Next sofas. Still look great and hands down the comfiest sofas we've owned!

Honeyroar · 08/01/2020 21:02

I’ve had my current m&s sofas for 12 years and they’re still looking great. Our previous ones ones were m&s too. I think they’re fab. They keep their shape very well.

Montclairmom · 11/01/2020 13:38

I’ve a chance to buy a used George smith signature sofa and two chairs for $4000 pounds. Are they such wonderful sofas that I should do it or should we just buy a new sofa.com number? Thank you.

Stargazing12 · 11/01/2020 23:16

I got a next sofa about two months ago. Doesn't feel.as comfy as the one in shop. Cushions feel.too hard. Not sure whether it will.soften up after a while. Was going to get a matching cuddle chair but it put me off .

PickAChew · 11/01/2020 23:24

They're all much the same. Bought an M&S sofa about 7 years ago and got rid of it 2 years ago because it was saggy and uncomfortable.

Best thing to do is read reviews on websites for specific models. Lots of JL models have reviews that mention sagging.

GemmeFatale · 12/01/2020 12:05

If you’re near one I’d look at Trade Secret.

Wildthyme · 12/01/2020 12:23

@Stargazing12 That's because the one in the shop has been sat down on by countless people over the time it's been in display.

My Next sofa cushions softened up after about 6 months and I'm the only one who sits on it. I've had it 2 years now.

lancaster · 12/01/2020 12:27

I love my M and S sofas.

Widowodiw · 12/01/2020 12:31

Dunelm do some great sofas.

Stargazing12 · 12/01/2020 20:13

Thanks @wildthyme that's reassuring x

myfuckingfreezer · 12/01/2020 20:14

I tossed up with M&S vs John Lewis and went John Lewis. Really regret it! Spend almost £1k on a 3seater sofa and the fabric started wearing within a couple of months Angry

MurrayTheMonk · 12/01/2020 20:46

I loved my M and S sofa. It lasted ages despite much abuse from kids and dogs.

Markisit · 13/01/2020 11:04

Have a look at www.quatropi.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=sofa

MayFayner · 13/01/2020 14:46

I’ve had my M&S sofa since 2010 so 10 years this year.

I’d quite like a new sofa actually but I can’t justify it as the M&S one is still going strong.

Beach11 · 13/01/2020 14:59

We bought M&S leather 3 years ago. Both sofas the same. Very comfy and all cushions kept their shape. We have 2 young dc and have withstood their climbing, jumping and spillages, etc.

Customer service was great and would definitely use again.

WellTidy · 13/01/2020 16:16

We've had the large Abbey sofas and a love seat for 9 years or so. No complaints. I would buy the same again.
