What to do with a big white wall??? Inspiration needed!!

We had an open plan extension completed last year with the usual island/ bifold/ dining space at one end and a TV area at the other.

The space is amazing but I am now left with a pretty big, blank wall that I have absolutely no idea what to do with?! It now feels more urgent since the tree and Christmas decorations came down and the room feels utterly bare!!

I am not great with design and decorating and can’t seem to get started with it?? Does anyone have any suggestions or examples of things you have done to give me some much needed inspiration?!

The wall faces the kitchen (which is Stiffkey Blue and White)...... in case that makes a difference?!

Thanks in advance!!!

I bought a 2 metre abstract oil on canvas of a poppy field. It was pricey but we love it. It's a very bright, dom8nating piece but on the blank white surface ,it's totally changed the space. Most daring piece of interior decoration I've ever done :) it has shades of other colours, not just the red and green, so I've had all sorts of different throws /lamps/ cushion covers in the area which have all worked as the painting doesn't limit me to one scheme.

Google "home art wall" OP - lots of ideas from photo gallery / kids artwork / "professional" art work / family tree decal with photos etc.

Have a look at prints on Etsy! So many cool line drawings / watercolours / film prints on there! Love the herringbone floor! It looks great in there!

Ooo... lovely space! You loosely divide the wall into two sections. One (maybe near the dining table) with all types of art and photos of your good times, the other half looks like there could be space for a side board? With big mirror above it, or big chalk board, and nice lamp. Or shelving for pretty objects and knick knacks and photos. Enjoy filling the space whatever you do Smile

One idea- paint the section of the wall nearest the window and by the table with blackboard paint and use it to write stuff on. (You could also hang a large wall clock at the top this section).
Then add an open shelve system to the section nearest the plant with display of family photos, plants etc or kitchen bits.

Sort of like this picture but the other way around:

Watching as I have the same dilemma! We will have a sideboard, sofa and standard lamp/side table with lamp (our dining table is elsewhere). But that still leaves the top 2/3 of the wall to fill.

I could do a gallery wall and/or shelves. Can’t really do a mirror as there is a mirror over the fire further along that wall in the seating area. Or maybe I could as long as it’s quite different in style?

Good luck OP !

Gallery wall is good idea @minipie as you can always rotate / keep it fresh.

Just don't get word art 🤢

I frequent car boot sales in the spring and summer. I have bought some lovely limited edition prints at a fraction of the real price. I would love a wall like that and put them into groups.
