Paint for skirting boards and windowsills

Our skirting boards and windowsills need repainting and I'm wondering what people use these days. Just want them white and to stay white. Last time I used gloss but it's gone really yellow. Is gloss still 'in' or should I be using something else?

I use satin.

Eggshell is lovely.
