I'm looking to buy two new sofas, a budget of £1k for both. Where would you recommend buying them?

@MakeMineALargeProsecco clearly I didn’t know that, was just telling you that there are showrooms....

I looked at what seemed like a million sofa shops and ended up in Ikea. The stuff in the old style furniture shops just looked so dated in comparison. And it significantly more expensive.

Our Next sofas were bought 13 years ago and are still in excellent condition, cushions comfy and firm. They've survived 9 years of punishment by children but you wouldn't know it. Really, really hardy.

Ikea.

Sofa.com might have a showroom in Scotland if you check? We got one from there, looks lovely but haven’t it long enough to say whether it’s durable

Interesting about the saggy M & S sofa. We had exactly the same issue, they went saggy very quickly. I've still got a 20 year old Multiyork sofa which is beautifully made, and the M & S ones just don't compare, cutting corners where you don't see eg cheap plastic imitation webbing under the base rather than hessian, and horrid brushed nylon where the leather ends under the cushions. As Multiyork have gone out of business, will go for Ikea or Next, they always come up well on MN.

sofa sofa ours are 10 years old and still look like new. Brilliant customer service. You can get replacement covers if you need to. We got 2 3 seaters and a corner sofa from them. One of them is a sofa bed and really comfy as a sofa and a bed.

@Phuquocdreams the do, or certainly did, we got ours at the morningside road one in Edinburgh
