If not Ring CCTV, then what?

A thread about a neighbour's Ring camera on the doorbell got deleted recently... I'm not too keen on Ring because of news stories linking it to the police, and how they can nick footage and so on. That wouldn't have bothered me a few years ago... Anyway, one neighbour says it only kicks in to catch the person departing. So can anyone recommend a decent CCTV camera that's not too expensive? I suppose it has to be linked to a Smart phone these days...

I think the ring battery camera can be a bit slow picking up the movement and only records perhaps seconds before and maybe 30secs after? If you want continuous recording that you can go back and review, I think you need the hard-wired into power source Ring. But don't quote me!

No problems with our Ring, it's hard wired in and captures everything- very sensitive.

What do you mean the police can steal the recordings?
