What size duvet should I get? Larger than the bed frame?

Hi am about to purchase a new bed and bedding. Am looking through lots of insta posts of bedrooms and all the duvets/bedding seem to come down quite far on the sides of the bed so that you don't really see the frame at all. I like the look. Have these people purchased a duvet a size larger than the bed as my current kingsize duvet does not have that much excess over the kingsize frame.

I always buy a size larger. My mum always did too.

yes get the bigger size. We've got a super king bed & I can't get bigger than super king bedding - I find the quilt is too small

Yes. King size bed with Super King bedding here. I even have Super King bedding on a double bed in the spare room specifically for drapage

We have a king size bed with super long bedding. It is lovely 😊 but I kind of wish I'd gone for two double duvets (one each) because I always want the thicker winter duvet on and DH gets too hot.

We have a Super king with king size bedding and it's fine...
DD has a double bed with single bedding and like it.

Too much bedding and it falls off the bed.

Always go for a size bigger than the bed.

Depends if two people are going to change the duvet cover.
I can see how the larger look is more luxury, but for me as a single person I find my super king size duvet big enough to handle on my own, I wouldn't want to go larger.
My duvet fits my super king size bed, but doesn't go down the sides very much, maybe a foot or so each side.
Plus I'll need a washing machine with a good size drum and space to dry it (I hang mine over the banister in the winter!)

Warofthewhorls. Do you burrito roll your duvet? It’s the only way I can change our SK easily on my own.

Bluesheep8 · 07/12/2019 08:25

lifecouldbe burrito roll? Please share, I struggle to change the duvet cover on my own.....

I wish I'd done this, my husband is apt to wrap himself up like a sausage roll when it's cold.

Next time we buy a bed it will be bigger and the duvet will be either the next size up or two separated ones. My some has a double duvet on his single bed and he's always cosy.

^ son not some
