What’s your experience of dark kitchens? Yay or nay?

Planning a big knock through to create a big open plan kitchen/ dining/ living area. It will be really bright and airy and all walls will be white so we’re thinking or being brave and going for dark blue kitchen cabinets for the walls and island (with white work tops) and I’m intrigued what others experiences are?

For example do they mark easily, show up fingerprints, nightmare to clean? For reference we’ve got two toddlers and a dog!

I don't have experience of a dark kitchen but I think that sounds lovely!

Just be aware of how long you want them to last and whether the colour will date. I would choose a type that can be painted over if you want a change

Sounds lovely but I agree make sure the doors could be painted if you go off the colour.

I have painted blue with white corian island and worktops.
Floor is light oak
I have large white walls and high ceiling so it's not too dark.
No fingerprints, just wipe down. Mine is a rough cut wood though, can be repainted if I get sick of the colour.
I love it
I'll find photo
