Artificial Christmas Tree - under £80

Was going to get one from next, however after having had a look at theirs in store, I wasn’t impressed! The basic 6ft one looked crap. I’ve had a quick look in wilkos and they weren’t much better. I can’t afford a luxurious one from Balsam Hill, but would like a nice one. £80 is the budget, any recommendations? We’ve had a real one for the last 5 years and decided their just too big & would like a nice artificial one.

Have a look at M&S, they have unlit trees in that budget, but no idea what they look like in real life. Otherwise, try Tesco or B&Q? There's an outlet shop near us that sells ex John Lewis, but I doubt you live within a few miles of me!

StillNumb · 11/11/2019 18:21

Also Wilkinson and Argos might be worth a try.

VictoriaBun · 11/11/2019 18:24

How about your local garden centre.
Or radical suggestion, go without this year and bag yourself a half price one in the sales !

isseywith4vampirecats · 11/11/2019 18:54

we got a six foot one from asda last year the pop up one came with baubles already on it and for the price around £50 its really good surpisingly i just added tinsel and some extra deccies and a big bow at the top, and after christmas all i had to do was take of the extra deccies, tinsel and the base off and fold it back into the box

PrincessScarlett · 11/11/2019 19:40

Try Argos. They have a wide range from cheap as chips to expensive. I bought a 5 footer a couple of years ago for £20 (think it was normally £30) and its lovely. Obviously it's not designer luxurious but once it's decorated it looks fine and I've had lots of compliments.

We got our 7ft pre-lit from here last year. Some amazing options and some discounted.

Try M&S, they always have a 20% off weekend towards the end of November. We got ours from B&Q last year and they had a great selection. I think we got it mid December and had been reduced. The garden centre local to us does nice ones but they are always more expensive than the big chain stores.

MustardScreams · 12/11/2019 08:41

Wilko 7ft Canadian Fir. It’s £60 but they have a sale nearer to Xmas where it’s half price usually.

It’s great, big and plump and looks really lovely once decorated. V happy with mine. Will hunt out last years photo of it.

Titsywoo · 12/11/2019 08:43

I got both my artifical trees from ebay. Paid £15 for a 7ft very full one which was worth £200 new and was in perfect condition. You'll need to look for ones near you but people sell them on all the time.

Ohffs66 · 12/11/2019 08:49

We got this one (But in 7ft) from Very last year and really happy with it

I bought mine last year from Christmas Tree World. It's 7ft, cost £80 although had money off and looked great. More of a realistic tree shape than the usual triangular ones - almost teardrop

Spanglybangles · 12/11/2019 19:42

I’ve gone proper radical this year and bought a pre-lit twig style tree from next. I’m sick of crap artificial trees and now we are in a new house with no suitable space for a really nice full tree (would love a Balsam Hill number), so have opted for a sleeker option and will decorate it with some of my lighter baubles and decs to make it suitably festive. Hoping it’s as nice as I am envisaging - £50.

Ooh I like that @Spanglybangles! I’ve been looking for something for my dining room and this is perfect, thanks!

Felyne · 12/11/2019 20:38

I got a 6.5ft one from Tesco a couple of years ago for £40 - reduced I think from £60. They have a similar one in this year for £65 but the one in my local store doesn't look as good as the one I have so they must have changed the design. (Not sure if that's much help...)

Rupster · 13/11/2019 16:32

We got this 7ft 6in Eiger artificial Christmas tree from B&Q a couple of years ago which I think it looks nice. It's only £38 at the moment.

kwest · 16/11/2019 18:41

I’m going to second the B&Q Eiger tree. We’ve got the 6ft one and once it’s decorated with lots of lovely fairy lights and baubles, plus a wicker tree skirt, it looks lovely. Easy to put up and store too.

youvegottobekidding · 19/11/2019 13:37

Thank you everyone for recommendations. After searching the entire (what felt like anyway) internet for trees I finally came across this one

direct.asda.com/george/christmas-shop/trees/6ft-snowy-pine-christmas-tree/050647760,default,pd.html?cgid=D18M2G1C4

After reading the 5 star reviews & looking at the pics, for £35 I thought it can’t be bad! I haven’t opened the box or put it up yet, have to wait til Dec, so I’m hoping it looks just as nice as the review pics! I’ll report back in a couple of weeks!

Looks lovely, you must report back once it's up and you've dressed it Smile

boobot1 · 25/11/2019 21:10

Try the range they have a massive selection

Rupster · 28/11/2019 14:05

Looks lovely and wintry! Yes, you must post a picture of it here when it's up and decorated!

youvegottobekidding · 29/11/2019 15:44

Here it is, must say, for £35, I’m impressed!
