A non-yellow, non-grey warm off white?

Does such a paint colour exist? In the middle of decorating a west facing room with hardly any natural daylight. All of the colour's I've tested are not right so I'm coming round to the idea it just needs to be white. But what shade of white? There are so many!

It needs to not appear yellow and I'd rather steer away from grey. I have Dulux Timeless elsewhere in my house and I don't think it contrasts quite enough against the white woodwork.

Dulux Egyptian cotton is nice

I had a nightmare trying to find a warmish off white without leaning too yellow or grey and after many samples and 2 colour changes I went with Valspar Soft Wool. I’d definitely try a sample of it.

Almond White?

Every white paint thread gets the same vote from me now..... F&B All White! Put it agains brilliant white and you'll notice a difference.

What is the difference, @goldpendant? Is it more yellow?

Don't go to a DIY shop. Go to a decorating centre. We have a Crown decorating centre near us and they will mix up any colour you want, even F and B colours. The paint is better quality and not as expensive as F and B.

Why is F and B so popular on MN?

goldpendant · 23/11/2019 07:52

Nope, not yellow, not grey, just a tad warmer? We've also got shadow white which I rave about and I think it's like a much paper version of that.... in our house anyway!

We've used both F&B and Johnstone's copies, the second much cheaper and holds up far far better. F&B flaked when we used it.

Baxdream · 23/11/2019 09:31

I got F And B on offer so it wasn't too expensive. Ours has gone up beautifully. I got modern emulsion so hopefully it doesn't flake!

Here's shadow white

I don't know why F and B archived Clunch. A beautiful, complex colour.. It it warm-ish and has more than a hint of yellow but I so prefer it to slipper satin, to which it's compared, and which looks a bit like magnolia to my eyes.
