I'm looking for some inspiration for a mini update to our kitchen. It's small (but not tiny) galley style, in a cosy cottage, and north facing on a narrow road with houses directly opposite blocking light too. It looks extremely tired at the moment, not helped by very outdated decor and grubby paintwork.
Funds are tight, so I'm planning to freshen up rather than overhaul. Tiles (90s multicoloured mosaic) are being replaced with cream metro. Radiator is being replaced with a white retro column one. Cabinets have cream shaker doors and bare wood sides and edges. The doors are in good nick, so I plan to keep those and paint the bare wood to match. The floor (orange with a hint of pink, almost terracotta-look tiles) is fine and will be staying.
I'm looking at colours for the walls (one full wall (with the lovely radiator coming) and the areas around the tiles, doors and windows on the other three walls). There's a light green on there at the moment which in principle I don't hate, but my instinct is to try and warm it all up a bit, and I'm not afraid of a dramatic change. A friend has suggested dusty pink, which I just can't visualise.
I'm happy to invest in testers, but when I've done that in other rooms before I've ended up with a wall full of different colours and feel equally ambivalent about all of them!
Any advice about where to start very gratefully received!
