I’ve tried:
All the sort of fabric warehouse places which come up on google
Vanessa Arbuthnot
Laura Ashley
Sophie Allport
John Lewis

Any lovely websites I might not have heard of? Thanks.

Romo, Clark's, Sanderson, design council, Malone are a few off the top of my head, I used to do some work for a commercial upholsterer, it was a fabulous job.

Liberty
Osborne and Little
Harlequin

Susie Watson
House of Hackney
Malabar
All very different but lovely depending on what you’re looking for

Oooh, thanks everyone.

Can I just express my frustration at all the lovely posh fabric sites where everything is organised by (teeny pictures of) collections?

Being a complete luddite and/or philistine I just want to be able to sort by show me everything you do in ‘green’ or ‘red’ Grin I’m not sure what I want her, I just know the colour I’m looking for!

Have you got something in mind? Zoffany is also nice, if you want a more traditional look. Designers Guild and Harlequin are my favourites.

Their sample service is very good.

Woodchip and Magnolia

Go to a website like Jane Clayton and sort by colour/use etc

rosegoldwatcher · 24/10/2019 12:37

Another vote for Designers Guild. They provide samples for 90p a pop, delivery is quick.
Romo also great. Their plain Linara FR is fab - hard wearing, so soft and comes in hundreds of colours.

Are you close enough to London for a trip to the Chelsea Design Centre?

Nothing quite like a morning —week— flicking through fabric books...

rosegoldwatcher · 24/10/2019 12:43

@noroominthefridge - thank you for the link to spoonflower. I've never heard of it, just took a look and I think I'm in love!

noroominthefridge · 24/10/2019 13:25

You are very welcome! We don't live in the UK, but they have been brilliant re posting stuff to Europe.

If you are of a crafty nature I would highly recommend their pre-printed kits for dolls etc

A few more to add to your list:

Voyage
Scion
Prestigious Textiles (bit cheaper)
Clarke and Clarke (bit cheaper)

Also have a look at places like:
curtainsmadeforfree.co.uk
www.textileexpressfabrics.co.uk
fabricgallery.co.uk/
www.fashioninteriors.co.uk
www.janeclayton.co.uk

... to get ideas for other good brands (even the places specialising in curtains will have brands that do furnishing fabric too even if you have to go to the original company's site to see it).

Also if you find brands or patterns you like, check them out on ebay - can be much cheaper to buy them, especially if they are not brand new designes...
