Measuring for second hand curtains

I am trying to buy second hand pleated curtains on eBay. I have measured my window and know what size width curtains to buy if new i.e before the strings in the curtain headers have been pulled but if I am buying used curtains and the strings have been pulled already how do I work out whether the curtains are wide enough ? What measurements do I need to go by? Hope that makes sense

You'd just undo the strings, wouldn't you?

Do you mean there pinch pleat fixed? If so you could ask person what’s the width of her window

Ask for width measurements at the drop. Make sure they drop below the window too.
If they are shop bought they probably have it on the tag.

Ah ok so I should double check that width measurement mentioned in the ebay listing is the width measurement at bottom ( is that ‘at the drop’?)
