Hi we have this blooming awful stuff in our hallway and up the stairs/landing. What can we do rather than strip it as we have no idea what the plaster is like underneath. Would a very thick lining paper work? We are hoping to replace the dado rails as well

With new dado rails that should say

You have my sympathy.... This paper is supposed to work, but I have no experience of it. We stripped our entire house of woodchip paper - it was a bugger to do and, as we suspected, had been put there to cover dodgy plaster. We've just about finished having all the walls re-skimmed. I don't know whether you can cover up woodchip successfully... Good luck!

There are a few small areas that are coming away from the wall near the skirting boards I might peel a small area to see if it comes away easy or not. Just pleased it’s the only part of the house this is in

Ah we had woodchip over the whole house when we moved in. It's an absolute bugger and the plaster was ruined underneath. We tackled a room at a time. We also had mirror tiles and polystyrene ceiling tiles to contend with.
