Bathroom People - Which brand?

We've finally thrown in the towel with fixing broken shower doosr, broken toilet flush, and hideous tiles with ridges and no storage whatsover.

We're on a tight budget and want to replace, toilet, shower and get a sink/vanity unit and re tile the floor. Idea is to get the best quality we can, so not cheapest of the cheap but decent quality that will last. Not top of the range ifyswim. I've seen some bathroom suites sold by Victoria Plumbing which look like the deal, but no idea wether these are any good & wasn't clear what brand they where.

  1. As far as bathroom suites go, Which ones are the best brands?
  1. Is Tavistock any good?? (saw toilet and sink at Costco recently for under £300)

I've spoken to 3 plumbers and all have said another person will do the flooring, another fixtures bla bla. I've read on here that its best to get just one person who can do the whole lot.

  1. So, who am i meant to be looking for? a handy man? some other job title?

We are not DIY people so would prefer as seamless a process as possible which means leaning more towards a suite rather than sourcing things individually/bargain hunting parts etc. Our nearest dealer is Grant & Stone. Is there anywhere we can get great bathrooms suites but perhaps cheaper?

Thanks for the tip about builders insurance and trade accounts etc. Will definitely look for a 'builder'.

Our plumber recommended Roca for sanitaryware and grohe for the shower/taps. They are expensive but I found them quite cheap on Plumbnation- the lead time is around 6 weeks though so be prepared for the wait!

I wouldn’t trust someone to do the whole thing, when we’ve done our bathrooms our plumber has got someone to do the plastering/someone to do tiling, especially if your space is awkward or you want mosaics!

Duravit make lovely sanitary wear. It's not all ludicrously expensive as they change the ranges frequently.

Taps and showers are where you should go for good brands (e.g grohe). The rest isn't as important and most brands will be fine. Good sources are Amazon, Plumbing World, Plumbworld etc.

We got a plumber who did everything. Well he had someone else who he brought in to do the tiling but he sorted that out - we didn't need to source any other workmen ourselves. We just got stuff from Homebase, which is absolutely fine, but we are planning to sell in a couple of years, so didn't want to spend too much.
