Thoughts on 'perfect fit' blinds?

We need to replace the blackout curtains in our bedroom (after many years they are falling to pieces). Blocking out the light is essential but the current curtains get in the way of the radiator under the window. I'm not keen on short curtains so looking at alternatives.

So I've recently come across so-called perfect fit blinds, which fit very closely to the window. Does anyone have experience of these? Would they block out the light efficiently? Would they look plasticky and crap in our old house?

Would really welcome your views!

I’m also thinking about perfect blinds as I have tilt and turn windows, with no space above for curtains or ordinary blind. As far as I can make out, you can get perfect fit as pleated, Venetian or roller blinds. They come in wide range of colours and fabrics, so I suppose quality will vary.

I’ve found a local company does them, and am going to get them round to show me samples and give me a quote. You can get them on-line but I’d rather not do the measuring myself in case of any problems. Depending on the age and style of your windows, perfect fit might not fit, so worth checking that out too.

My parents have blinds which are similar to perfect fit but are on cords which run vertically where the frame meets the glass. They are pleated blinds and look good still after about 10 years, maybe more.

Meant to add - you can get perfect fit black out blinds.

I have them in my dining room. Really love them. Rarely close them as we are not overlooked. They are low maintenance.

I've had perfect fits and now I've got some Intu blinds on a set of Windows. Really great. No flapping about!
