Can thin rug in living room work for having a baby around?

Got a fab wool rug from JL at good price. But the rug is rather thin. I never had thin wool rug like this before. I think people tend to use for under the dining table.

I just wonder DS2 is only 4 months and if a thicker and softer rug would be better...

Our floor is laid with engineered wood.

In your position I wouldn’t worry too much as you’re happy with the rug generally for your house. For rolling/crawling my babies went all over the place including where there was just the wood floor. So long as you’re happy that the baby is safe and comfortable I don’t really think rug thickness matters - in fact a thin rug might be easier to hoover etc so you know there won’t be little bits of stuff hidden in it for the baby to find, or long fibres for them to pull out. And when the baby is still little you could put a play mat / play gym down for example.

@Secondsop, thank you! It's a very good point about seeing what's on the rug clearly! Didn't think about that before.
