Hi All,

I would really appreciate some help (before I dig up my new patio and put my husband under it!) Smile

We have a dark, north facing living room. We have oak floor and doors and an old period cast iron fireplace which we have had modern geometric tiles fitted to.

It’s currently brilliant white and it needs something a bit warmer but without it looking yellow or grey?!

Can anyone help with some ideas please - decorator starting on Monday Confused

Thanks everyone

We recently decorated and like you we wanted white but nothing yellow-y or grey.

In the end we went for Colourtrend “Arctic Blonde”.

We put it throughout so it’s in both north- and south-facing rooms and it’s lovely- really crisp and clean.

Our living room is identical to yours, north facing with oak flooring. We used dulux timeless. Loved it so much my whole house is now done in it.

We went for Dulux Jasmine White rather than Timeless in the same situation as you, but both are nice colours. Timeless is a bit murkier in a north facing room we found from experience .

Ive just put some paint samples on a wall - we have narrowed the choice down now to between Dulux Timeless and Jasmine White. I think Jasmine White is slightly warmer, although we’ll probably go for Timeless.

I wrote my post without reading the previous post! A coincidence xpost.

Other contenders all by Dulux were White Cotton, White Mist and Summer Linen.

Dulux Egyptian Cotton works well too

skippy67 · 29/09/2019 17:45

Dulux Porcelain Doll.

Moreisnnogedag · 29/09/2019 18:04

Dulux Rock salt

SleepingIsOverrated · 29/09/2019 18:06

I have a friend who swears Egyptian cotton can be out in any room and look amazing. We went for a Homebase paint called putty, it was the perfect mix between grey and stone

Dark Blue!

If you want white that is pure white go colour trend Milk Teeth - I have this in a north facing room.

However, I am repainting like you and I'm thinking of going dark!!

NuffingChora · 01/10/2019 18:58

F&B Strong white

Jasmine White in an East facing room, which is dark most of the day (only sunny first thing) Looks lovely.

TiddleTaddleTat · 01/10/2019 22:20

A vote for little greene slaked lime. Lovely warm -ish grey toned white. I have it in an east facing room (no sun after 12pm) and in a west facing room (no sun before 12-1pm) and works really well in both

Smallinthesmoke · 01/10/2019 22:28

Just shove up Dulux Timeless and then you can get on with other things!

TiddleTaddleTat · 02/10/2019 06:41

There's a lot to be said for going for something inoffensive - you can always change it later.
The decision fatigue around redecoration / renovating is hard, isn't it!

Jasmine White Dulux! We have that in our downstairs east facing room and Rock Salt upstairs, both nice but JW is the warmer of the two but not creamy or yellow-looking
