Boring question about TV units

We need a new TV unit but I can’t afford a new one and I can’t find a suitable second hand one yet.

I was thinking of putting two of these together as we have a 55 inch TV.

Would this work or actually be safe to do?

Can't see why not. Ideally you should screw the two units together.

hello should work - we use a white, 2x4 kallax which is bit more expensive but still cheaper than a tv unit (it's was £50). I really like it and my friend went out and bought one after seeing it. It's extra storage and we can use it somewhere else as a bookcase or whatever, if we find the tv cabinet of our dreams :)

Thanks both!

@melmos - it looks good although would it be strong enough for a big TV?

The IKEA website says the max load is 30kg

Or 13kg per shelf for the kallax

Don't see why not; if you're into DIY you can even fit a top after bolting them together - like solid oak, it would look great with the white and more purposeful.

Thanks all!

I just suggested all the above to DH and he wasn’t up for any of it 🙄 but we need. Unit ASAP 🤷‍♀️
