(Very) dark interior walls in a new build?

I'm a huge fan of dark interiors ala Abigail Ahern and am seriously considering painting our lounge in F&B Off Black or similar (It's currently pale pink). I'm confident the room is big enough to take it, and I can make our current furniture work with it but....we live in a new build. A new new build. And the only pictures I can find online of dark painted rooms seem to be in period homes. I'm bloody terrified I'll do it and it will look just wrong, or tacky or something. Not a fan of feature walls so just doing one isn't going to work for me. And if I do the whole room and hate it I can only imagine the size of the pain in the arse it will be to get it back to a paler colour.

Does anyone have really dark walls in a new build type house? Would you be willing to share pics with me so I can see how it looks please? Thank you!

I don’t have dark walls or a modern home, but I understand the appeal of the dark side! These modern examples look good www.home-designing.com/2016/01/black-living-rooms-ideas-inspiration

New builds are often too small to look good with dark walls. You need a huge space to make that look work otherwise you just end up with something that looks like a dungeon

I really like dark rooms too! However, even if it does work, at some point you will want to change it back, when fashions change etc, so you do need to consider the commitment.

Could you perhaps use lining paper, that you then paint? That way you'd just have to take the lining paper off? I should add I'm DIY incompetent so this may not be as easy as I'm imagining...

Letthemysterybe thank you I will take a look at those!

Teddybear45 we are lucky that we have really large rooms for a new build, and the ceilings are also quite high. It's more the fact that it is basically a square boxy room that I'm concerned about, with none of the alcoves, dado rails, cornicing etc that you get in older houses that seem to make the dark paint work so well.

You need a fair bit of white or pale in the room IMO to make it work (I know Abigail doesn’t but I think her rooms look great on Pinterest but not sure about real life)

Period rooms get the white from big window frames, architraves, fireplace, cornice etc. If you don’t have those think about other ways. Pale rug? White framed black and white pictures on the walls? Pale furniture?

You need really high ceilings to make it work.
