Sisal rugs?

I have a black dog. I’m thinking of getting a sisal/seagrass rug for the living room. Does anyone have one who also has a large dog? How easy are they to clean (the rug, not the dog)? Do the dog’s claws catch the weave?

Thank you.

Can't answer re the dog but we had a sisal carpet once (in a rented flat) and discovered that water stains it. Seriously, I carried some very wet washing up the stairs and was left with permanent splash marks on the carpet Shock.

Just something to be aware of..

I don’t have a dog but I would say don’t do it. We had two. They are impossible to clean and soon looked grubby.

Really useful, thanks. Rather as I thought, they just look so nice when new.

I currently have this one

Got it before the dog!

We had a very large one in our last front room ( cork flooring) - loved it, looked as good as new when I sold it 4.5 years later. We have a dog and a cat neither of them ever damaged it. I was also warned re spilling liquids on it, thankfully we never did. If I had hard floors again I wouldn’t hesitate to get another.
