Blinds for weird square living room bay

We're having new windows fitted and as a result the horrid vertical blinds and yucky fake curtains have come down today - hurrah!!!!

I need to replace them with something but what. Window looks right into the cul de sac and road beyond so we need something for privacy but that lets in a lot of light as it's one big long room and is the only window.

Whilst the window in itself isn't weird, there is a big plain window and one little side window in a bay with a blank bit of wall next to the big window. So it looks off kilter. Room is very plain and very square. Is getting redecorated next year. All the wood is white and will stay that way.

We have horizontal blinds in the other windows at the front of the house so that would make sense? But what material? It's a standard 80s Barrett home so nothing quirky or period needed.

Any ideas gratefully received

Have you got a photo of the bay? I'm struggling to imagine why it looks like exactly.

Everyone on MN, and in fact on every road near our house, seems to be obsessed with plantation shutters. I don't really get it - I think they block a lot of light. I much prefer wooden Venetian blinds, but I get that I am in a minority there! I agree with the PP, though - you really need to give us a diagram to look at so we can make workable suggestions, if at all possible.
