Mattres for ikea day bed

We are thinking about buying an ikea daybed, but we are not impressed with the mattresses (i usually prefer sprung mattresses but ikea's one feels too firm & uncomfortable, the foam ones... not sure if they can hold on to the weight of an adult for a couple of nights?). Does anyone that has the sprung mattress can give me their opinion? which ikea one do people prefer? We are from overseas so when our parents (61-80 years old) come to visit us they do it for 1 week at least, so level of comfort is important for us.

Would buying 2 normal twin mattresses work (we could store the 2nd one behind the bed against the wall?)

Or should we compromise space and just buy a simple double bed? A bit of a waste of space for a few weeks a year.

We got ours with the thicker foam mattresses and my 81 year old mum finds it quite comfortable. We use a mattress topper on it though.

is that the malfors? I am thinking about buying that one as the sprung one seems too firm. Where did you get the topper?
