How can I make this mattress comfortable?

I've a double mattress that is only two years old. The bed it was on originally was put together incorrectly when I moved house, the middle support missing, and the mattress started to dip in the middle. I now have a new double bed frame, but the mattress still dips in the middle. Is there anything I can do to fix this? I've tried turning the mattress. I have a mattress topper, but wondered if a memory foam topper would help? Or is it a case that something right through the mattress is broken? Sorry, that sounds stupid, I just can't understand how it can be damaged by not having enough support underneath it for half a year Confused The slats were fine, it was literally just a case of a middle leg missing!

I really can't afford a new mattress, so if I can't mend it I'll have to put up with it as it is, but I have a bad back and it's not helping.

I have a memory foam topper on my brand new mattress (I've got a bad back), and I love it.

But no idea if it would help with the dipping issue.

I doubt you'll be able to do much with it sadly. Sounds like the springs have bent which you can't really fix.

My mattress came from Ebay and was £99 including delivery and it's super comfortable. Maybe have a look?

I would second eBay, had some amazing second hand mattresses from there.

Mine was new and is pocket sprung with memory foam.

Thanks. It was a great mattress until it dipped.

Do you have a link to the eBay mattress you'd recommend?

ebay.us/kFy2pA

This is the one I have. They were really helpful and easy to work with too.

Memory foam gives off toxins doesn't it? Or it that just tempur?

Adollop · 31/08/2019 21:42

You're welcome! I've had mine for six months or so and it's still like new. It's also super comfortable!

Have you sorted this? My husband slept in my lovely soft sprung bed for a while whilst his bedroom was being sorted (separate beds) and he left a large dent in the middle! After a bit of a google I read that putting one of those flat cheap pillows under the mattress where the dent is would work. It does! Simple, but until I read it, I would never have thought of doing it.

CatsMother thank you! I hadn't thought of that. I'll try it.
