For how long is paint viable after opening?

I’m wondering whether it’s worth keeping tins of opened paint for the future. In some colours, I have enough left to redo small rooms.

If you seal it up properly, it should last years.... put top on, press hard then turn tin upside down and swill paint around, so no air can get in...
