Fake flowers...thoughts?

Hi folks!

I adore fresh flowers, but am wondering what the current thoughts are on fake flowers? It seems that you can get some pretty realistic looking ones now...am thinking of having some sprigs in little vases in the bathroom and cloakroom and maybe an arrangement in the kitchen. I’ll still get fresh flowers as and when, too, time and finances permitting!

Thanks so much in advance! x

I love flowers and I do admire the fake ones in the shops but no, in peoples' homes I just see dust and the dust traps they are. Somehow it is the fresh and the fleetingness of flowers that bestow their attraction to me. I even find fake a bit dismal as they conjure up waiting rooms and reception desks.

I was having this conversation today.
These days, if you pay a bit more, you can get very real looking ones. They would work out cheaper and less time consuming in the long run. I think they are the way forward!

I'm a fan. Got them dotted around everywhere.

Just get full of dust.

How about house plants?

Next do some great fake flowers. They do get dusty though, but nothing a quick wipe over with a baby wipe can’t fix.

love them. don't have to remember to water them and the cats don't try to eat them!

DameXanaduBramble · 03/09/2019 08:59

Hate them. They always look fake - however expensive. Naff naff naff

Hadalifeonce · 03/09/2019 09:00

The really expensive ones can look very realistic, and a quick vacuum occasionally sorts out dust.

Bluesheep8 · 03/09/2019 09:05

Quick wipe with a baby wipe does it

I have artificial flowers everywhere, I would love to have the most fresh luxurious bouquets in my house but maybe when I win the lottery. You can get decent realistic ones from Dunelm, they are pricey but look nice.

I have a couple of large displays. I have large displays of real flowers too, so often people ask if they’re real. I’m not trying to fool anyone, I just like the way they look

I have some and think they look nice, they don’t get dusty because I dust and even wash them every now and again, I also spray them sometimes so they smell nice.

I still buy fresh flowers though for the entrance hall, have you heard of Freddie’s flowers? They do subscriptions and they last at least a week.

I am not a fan (sorry) - to me, part of the charm of flowers is that they are opening, changing and transitory. Plus the scent. The static nature of fake flowers just doesn't cut it.

The green leaves on my fake hydrangeas have faded.
