Does anyone else get fed up with all the tech?

My husband is obsessed with gadgets and tech and I'm so fed up of having to ask Alexa to turn on our lights, if I use the switch sometimes it's not in sync and I have to flick it a few times to get the light on!
Heaven forbid I'd like to dim the light! We no longer have a dial I can simply turn, now I have to hunt for my phone, open the app, choose the correct light and then choose the brightness. Apparently smart bulbs are easier and more fun 😒

My decor taste is very cosy, comfy and minimal. The colour changing LED lights behind every cupboard, headboard, bookcase and TV is beginning to drive me a bit mad! 😂

Can't you ask Alexa to dim the lights?

I’m old fashioned I know but I don’t think it makes your life easier just over complicates it

Why does your DHS taste for gadgets trump your taste for simplicity and non tech?

I love tech but this kind of thing baffles me.
Maybe I don’t love tech?

If your lights are Philips Hue then you can get remote controls which sit on the wall next to the switch.

This is why we don't have an alexa! Sounds like an awful way to live, it would actually stress me more.

Oh god I live like this too. Drives me insane. I'll be watching TV in the evening and all of a sudden the lamp will turn itself on because it's deemed the room too dark. Why can't I bloody decide when I want a light on?

I broke into DP's phone to get on the app and change/ delete all the automation "rules" that I hate. That caused an argument but I have won a few.

For god's sake if your DH starts talking about door and motion sensors just say NO!

I really despise talking to Alexa 😂

Eurgh it's just one of those things he's wanted for such a long time that he wore me down 🙈

I saw a magazine article a few years back, where a London couple had a small holiday cottage with no tech, other than lights and the fridge. It looked heavenly.
