I've probably done this the wrong way round, but, we chose paint first as our little girl isn't into pink or princesses. We wanted something light and airy for her room that gets a lot of natural light and ended up choosing ocean ripple by dulux.

Her furniture is white, but there is nothing on the walls, so it looks so blank and empty. I really want to make it special for her, but I'm not sure how.

I'm just at a loss as to what to do with it. We want something that she can grow into and that won't look babyish. Does anyone have any suggestions please?

Buy some posters of whatever she likes, put them up in frames then just update the posters as her tastes change.
Get cushions or blankets of her favourite things and update as needed.

My daughter used to Have similar.
She's not girly either.
Had silver curtains , and we changed the knobs on her drawers & wardrobe to The crystal ones.
Looked really pretty & special without being pink & princessy.
Love that colour!

The only thing she has remotely shown interest in is a little mermaid bedding set as I was scrolling through the bedding section on next just now

But my fear is that she'll decide soon that she doesn't want it that way anymore very soon after we've done it 😂

Check out LucyHamiltonAtHome on instagram. She’s got loads of fab ideas for kids bedrooms on her page.

Don't theme it too narrowly - Pictures you can change or wall stickers in an empty frame work

DD (4) has a bed tent which she loves and glow in the dark stars on the ceiling

Crystals in front of the window give rainbows on the walls at the right time of day. We also found a rainbow curtain for the front of her wardrobe

Couldn't you get some Mermaid/shell cushions,
Buy some cheap frames & pop some Little mermaid print outs in there?
My daughter used to have a cork board we would Pin things too as she was always changing the things she liked!

Scoleah · 13/07/2019 15:05

She didn't have a Pin board at 3 though! Maybe a magnetic board or something similar? X

Wall stickers and bedding that you don't mind changing.

DD's room (she's 14) hasn't been decorated since she was 2.5 (we did yellow walls with a mid purple feature wall). But she had had wall stickers of Winne the Pooh, Disney princesses and currently butterflies.

The paint looks lovely.

You can buy blackboard paint and also clear whiteboard paint, in case you fancy an art wall!

I've found some lovely prints on etsy that I can download and print 💕

I'll have a look for cushions etc and see what I can find
