Tell me about your skirting- Ogee or torus?

Getting living all done snd new flooring so we are putting new skirting. Thought it would be simple till i realised all the options. Ogee, totus, mdf, painted.

Have Torus at the moment but guy who came round suggests going for a higher skirting.

What age is your house? I'd always go with the style that would be in the house when it was new. My house is 1860 Victorian so we have 8 inch torous (sp?) Which is proportioned nicely.

I've just had my floor replaced so changed skirting. I've just gone for pencil round as it is a fairly new house, but got MDF. It is great, the finish is lovely, much better than the softwood one I previously had. Mine was primed, and I gave it two coats of topcoat, it looks really good.

I was also thinking about painting some kitchen cupboards, so did a bit of research and came across someone who recommended adding a paint condition to satinwood paint to avoid brush marks. I think it is called Floterol. I've no idea if it helped really as not a painting expert, but I have got a really nice finish.

Period property chunky 9 inch with a fancy profile. Otherwise whatever you like the look of, there are loads of different profiles if you look online. I've used mdfskirtingworld.co.uk to get some boards made to match my missing original ones.
