Annie Sloan paint

OK so I have an old brown wood polished shelving unit and I want to paint it with chalk paint. Has anybody done this? Is it even possible? I would really appreciate some tips if anybody has experience of this. Thanks.

I have done quite a few pieces very successfully. It's really easy to do. I've found the rustoleum paint is just as good as Annie Sloan actually.

This was an old pine chest of drawers which I painted grey and put new handles on. It looks pretty good in a spare bedroom.
