Removing wall decals/stickers

So we are purchasing a house next week and plan on decorating before moving in. It currently has a huge "live love laugh" sign across the living room wall. My question is how do we remove it without damaging the paint/plaster. I presume it's stuck on like a huge sticker so if we just peel will it take paint/plaster with it? Ideal situation I guess is that it's stencilled on and can be painted over but don't think it is.
Also in our kids room there are loads of stickers on wall - any tips to remove them? Don't really want to repaint that room if we can get away as it's a nice colour already and in good condition except stickers.

Dd Room was plastered in Disney Princess and space themes stickers when we moved in.
They simply peeled off with no damage to the wall (although we did repaint).
Not sure if we were lucky or because they were for a child's room they were designed to come off easily.

A lot of the ones you can buy online are advertised as "easily remove-able" so fingers crossed yours are this type.
