Help me create a dramatic bedroom...

I've recently discovered bold colours and love the effect but really struggling to decide what to do in our bedroom so it isn't too garish but is stunning. I love the look of the new farrow and ball new colour paean black and think it would look beautiful with peignoir but no sure. FH thinks it would be too much.

I think those two colours go well together ☺️

Is your bedroom a decent size? Does it get a lot of natural light? What colour is your bed and other furniture?

Yes it is a big bedroom with windows on both sides so quite light. Our bed is white and that's about all the furniture we have in there at the moment.

Then I’d say definitely go for it! I love a dark wall. In some rooms it’s worked really well and have kept, in others it just didn’t and ended up painting over. If you do have to repaint then it isn’t a massive job. You can use wall art in white frames to lighten the overall affect too. Your abundance of natural light will probably make the reddish purpley tones in the paint come out lovely too.

And my other half hates most of the ideas I come up with, but ends up loving them! I think women spend more time looking online/in magazines so have a good idea how things will look. Whereas men don’t so it’s generally alien to them and they think we’re going mad! (Sweeping gender generalisations I’m aware)

I painted my bedroom with peignoir earlier this year and I adore it. I think it is perfect bedroom colour. But is isn't at all dramatic. It is restful & thoughtful.

I think it would work really well with a contrast or some kind - whether a solid dark colour or (as I often consider) a big dramatic wallpaper mural on one wall.
