As a short arse I love mine. I can reach in with my little arms without burning myself.

ChicCroissant · 27/05/2019 00:05

They are good, but we've had to repair our door once already. Great for small kitchens as the door doesn't get in the way of anything. I do like it.

DramaRamaLlama · 27/05/2019 00:06

Yes love mine - makes getting things in/out of oven really easy for the kids.

DramaAlpaca · 27/05/2019 00:06

I don't have one, but I certainly covet one because I think they are great. I can't see a down side to them. BTW my Neff oven is almost 18 years old & still going strong.

Chh03 · 27/05/2019 00:13

Thanks Mumsnet !

I have a bad back so I'm convinced it will help as I can access the oven easier. But wasn't sure if that's because I want one Smile

I do like the idea. My current Neff is still just about soldiering on and has telescopic rails on the bottom shelf, which means just sliding heavy pots in and out. I’d have those again, for sure.

We love ours. Space - a lack of was the most important reason. I also have back problems along with other physical problems - the most important thing we did was raise our floor units. My partner found something that explained about the height of units and worktop. He is also tall so benefits too. I cannot emphasise how important that was. It wasn't a problem for the kitchen fitters to do.

Chh03 · 27/05/2019 00:28

AbbieLexie ... thanks I'm tall as well so having the oven higher up, but can you remember what it was ?
The kitchen is bring fitted in a couple of weeks.

I didn't like it cos you couldn't clean the door properly because it slid in!

littlecabbage · 28/05/2019 22:00

I hardly ever bother sliding the door into the hidey bit, as it means it takes more time to shut the door again, so more heat is lost.

Ours also cooks unevenly, but maybe we just have a duff one!

ChicCroissant · 28/05/2019 22:03

Hob scraper to clean the door glass! Hold door with one hand, use scraper with other - takes just a couple of minutes and works so well.

Autumnchill · 28/05/2019 22:03

Another yes vote!

Think I'm being a bit dense but we have the Neff hide and slide oven. We love it. The height of the kitchen units plus worktop is really what made a huge huge difference. From the floor to the top of the worktop is 38" / 97cms. There is a formula for working this out - I've just asked DP. He had me practising chopping etc until he worked out the perfect height for me. Not a problem for the kitchen fitters - they built a frame and the cupboards were placed on top. I have kitchen units from IKEA. I'm in agony if I've helped in another kitchen because of the bending. Happy to answer any other questions you may have.

Marchitectmummy · 28/05/2019 22:47

Yep love ours, would definitely get another

I find the self clean function really good - although it annoys me that you need to remove the metal racks - because they're the bits that get really grubby! But I guess that's the same with all ovens.

I also don't understand the comment the it taking too long to slide the door into the recess. Mine literally rolls in and out - doesn't add any time at all.

MaidenMotherCrone · 29/05/2019 09:23

I've got two and they both cook unevenly. The door function is a really good idea but the ovens are not very good at being ovens.

Allice · 29/05/2019 09:27

Love mine too, I had one in my new kitchen at my old house and have had one put in my new house, extension I don't randomly rip out good kitchens.

Mine wasn't anymore expensive than other ovens I don't think, it's just a midrange one.

Chh03 · 31/05/2019 17:58

Thanks everyone, so I've gone for it, oven and matching microwave arrive next week .. excited SmileSmile

Lets us know your thoughts once you've given them a road test !

wonkylegs · 01/06/2019 21:26

I hope you like it, I've had mine over 5years now and I love it. I have a standard one at the bottom with a slide and hide stacked above it. Means that short arse me can use both of them.
Tonight they have been busy making birthday cakes in both of them.

BentNeckLady · 01/06/2019 21:30

I’ve got two being installed next month so I’m glad that most people are happy with them. I can’t wait to have a decent oven. I’ve currently got a rangemaster and it’s bloody uselsss.

Chh03 · 03/06/2019 21:04

Will update once installed.. they arrive tomorrow and can't wait to have a fully functioning kitchen after weeks of living in a building site

desperatehousewife2 · 03/06/2019 22:34

Sorry if I’m being a bit dense here but was is the benefit of this oven? I’d never heard of it so googled it and saw where the door can kind of retract so it slides in underneath, but what is the actual advantage of that?

ChicCroissant · 04/06/2019 09:34

The benefit for me is that there is more space in a small kitchen because there is no oven door in the way! It doesn't stick out or block anything else in the kitchen either side of it and you don't have to lean over it. Our current kitchen has the oven in the middle of a run of units.

Our previous houses have always had the oven at the end of a run next to a wall, so a side opening door didn't get in the way so much there.
