How to decorate 6 year old Ds bedroom

We are hopefully moving into a new house soon and it needs redecorating throughout. The only room I'm stuck on is DS3 who turns 6 this month. I had thought of The Great Little Trading company grey star wallpaper on one wall and then the other walls a pale grey and matching accessories (lampshade, curtains, bedding etc). His carpet will be grey and he currently has the ikea kura bed. Do you think it's too babyish? He's really into the outdoors and loves our local farm. I'm just stuck as I don't want to have to redecorate too soon after.

I have two sons, have a look on Pinterest of just google boy's bedrooms and see what catches your eye.

I never did themes in terms of Ben 10 or Thomas the tank but I did choose really bright bedding and then picked an accent colour out from that for the walls. I always went with paint as it is easy to change out. My children have their rooms done ever 3 years ish.

Grey makes me think of a neutral nursery colour. Sorry.

@TheTreeHearsYourSecret thank you. I think you are right. We had a look around a huge next home store today and he found a beautiful cabin bed he liked it was set against a green wall (his favourite colour) with coloured photo frames, prints and a neon initial light. He loved the whole look so I think we will go for that. In our current house we have marvel wallpaper in one of the rooms. I loved it when we moved in now I hate it. So agree it's better to stick with paint.

I bought curtains in a fabric very similar to this one when we moved into our house and were decorating DS' room. He was 3 at the time, and is now 11. The curtains have been fantastic, as there are lots of different colours in them, so you can change the look of the room without replacing them. Ds has two large sash windows side by side, so we needed made to measure, and they were pricey. But they haven't dated at all, and will last him well.

At the moment, his room is painted in a lovely mid blue.

We've had various bedding, from Thomas to pirates and now he has this stripe from M&S with dark blue sheets and pillowcase.

We have also tried various decals on the walls, and he really loved an under the sea theme similar to this.

Now that he is 11, he is fancying something mountain themed, which the curtains would go great with. I really like the almost photographic scenes that come in whatever size you like, so you could do a whole wall with it.

We have decided to go for this colour on his wall, Dulux Emerald Glade. He chose it. Only one wall and the rest will be dulux timeless. Then like you've suggested @WellTidy we will add some colourful bedding. Probably plain curtains with this bedding as it's quite fussy.

I love that paint colour!

Like the colour but the green clashes unpleasantly with the green of the duvet.

I went plain white as i could touch up scuffs, dirt etc easily. We just put up poster frames and went themed curtains and lamps etc. Figure it's easy to change them as he grows

What about this teepee? I think this would look beautiful! babyuniquecorn.com/collections/tipi/products/childs-teepee-set-star-in-the-sky
