Thoughts on a navy couch or midnight blue in living room?

Do you think it’s too dark? Our living room I think would suit a light couch, but with two young kids, a third on a way. Plus a dog, my husband thinks navy is better. But not sure it will go.

Depends on the size of the room and the rest of the decor - but I love navy sofas and am looking at getting one as we speak!!

London standards my living room is huge, but I am from a country, where its a small living room! Lol. The colour is beautiful, I am just not sure it would suit. We are replacing everything basically, as we bought a house two years ago and alway said we would (furniture acquired by my husband from friends, and I was not keen on the pieces). The couch we bought from Ikea, knowing we would replace it when we bought a place. So I guess I could make the couch work.

Keep the rest of the room neutral and make the couches a feature. We went for dark purple velvet and kept everything else light so it’s fine.

We've gone for ammonite (v place grey) on the walls and navy and silver curtains and I'm planning lots of silver accents plants pots, side table etc to add more light too

Very dark coloured sofas will show every mark.... weirdly paler neutral will be more tolerant. It would be wise to go for a loose cover which you can remove easily and wash often... IKEA is actually great for this.

I’m a huge fan of dark blue and have it in two rooms on the walls, including F&B Hague Blue in my sitting room. The whole room is painted in it and it looks fantastic! If you go for a lightish flooring it won’t be too dark.
