Buying a lamp in halogen bulbs??

Can someone tell me if this is adviseable or not?

Basically I want a chrome floor lamp which is dimmable and not too expensive. The ones I’ve found are like this, but they require halogen bulbs. I thought halogen bulbs were being phased out, so would it be a waste of money to buy it? Can’t find any LED ones that are dimmable!

Just be careful as the dimmers for non LEDs (e.g. halogen) are a different technology for LEDs. There is a good explainer here:

But if the light has the dimmer built in … it is trickier to change … best to get a light designed to work with LEDs.
