Light green carpet - what colour sofa?

So - we are renting a house for a year and the carpet is a faded light green in the lounge. There is then this MASSIVE wooden fireplace that stretches right up to the ceiling The house is quite old and dated. We have painted the walls white (they were yellow ). I just have no idea what colour sofa to get. Currently I have a brown one and it looks gross. We also have a television stand that looks awful bc far too much wood! Would a grey sofa work? Would it need wooden feet to fit in? Help!

Pink looks nice with green, or you could go with cream if you’re feeling brave! Next have a massive selection.

That is quite eye catching I would minimise all other wood in the room, so definitely no big wooden legs on the sofa and I think you should go for a pale fabric.

Is the TV stand yours? If it is, you can paint it cream or off white, just leave the top natural. Cream sofa and some flower pattern cushions and curtains.

I would just buy a sofa that you love and not worry about it matching the green carpet. Presumably you will take sofa with you if you move but the carpet will stay. Have a statement sofa! Agree the wood panelling is hideous but the room looks a good size.
Layer the room with your own decoration.

Mushroom velour would be appropriate, if I remember correctly from my childhood!

Oh, or chintz, with large roses on a cream background and stems and leaves to match the carpet!

I love the wood panelling! It has a very Arts & Crafts look about it. Not so much the fire surround.

It depends on your other furnishings. I'd be tempted to go with a retro style sofa with a print. Then you aren't committed to matching exactly with the carpet, as long as they have some harmonising tones.
