Matt or silk emulsion ??

I need to get my living room paint bought tomorrow and can't decide on matt or silk finish for the emulsion on the walls.

What do you prefer? The room of 14 ft x 15 ft, with a south facing window and a west facing window so will get a good bit of light. The paint will be daffodil white, (pale yellow).

When we moved into this house all the paintwork was matt, and seemed to be sucking the life and the light out of the house. I've gone for silk or soft sheen everywhere else, but now wondering if matt is so prolific in the shops, maybe that's the fashion and I should give it a go again. And if matt, would you go for a washable version?

We've just had the house done with scrubbable matte and it's lovely. It's very tough as we've had reason to wash it already ( Ds/cup of coffeeHmmGrin) we had silk before but this looks more modern and the decorater said 95% of his customers use matte now.

Silk will show up every roller mark and touch up

Thanks, matt is the preferred option from my other thread, so have gone with that. Thanks for your comments.

Matt! I accidentally bought some silk so we used it in the nursery, but it shows up roller marks and imperfections much more than matt!

Try Johnson's soft sheen...is between the two but a lovely finish

Silk is old fashioned nowadays.
Use Dulux Diamond matt or Crown clean extrme or if you want a bit of a sheen use soft sheen paints.
