Lighting a garden for a party

We're hoping to have a party in the garden but haven't a clue about making it look festive and light enough for guests to stay outside when it's dark.
We've got a fire pit and some outdoor fairy lights Christmas but other than that I'm stumped.
Any ideas?

We have used this company before - they have a mix of styles (in case you want a theme) and a mix of prices to suit most budgets.

We used these to light a pathway:

These around tree trunks/large plants:

We strung a few of these across the seating area:

We also dotted numerous lanterns around the garden:

They provided a good service and we were happy with the end result.

Pinterest has some gorgeous ideas I'm going to make some planters with poles in so I can string lights down the garden this year. Recycling jars and tins with patterns put in them with a nail are also on the list time permitting ( we are having a bbq for DH birthday)!

Just to say thank you, that website is perfect.

Try Poundland and get some of the solar lights as well...
They are not bad for giving atmosphere.

Don’t forget citronella candles and sprays if you’re lighting the garden for an evening party particularly as the weather gets warmer. Your lovely lights can attract all sorts of bugs so be well prepared.
