Hard floor on staircase

Hello,
Does anyone have wood, parquet, LVT on their staircase?
We have carpet but because of my allergies, I'm wanting to get rid. Also I suspect one of our cats has been weeing on the staircase and having a hard floor would make it so much easier to keep clean.
Not too bothered about noise insulation.

Yes, we have. Same kind of stairs as these:

We've had them about 10 years. Easy enough to keep clean. Depending on the finish you may have to sand and re-varnish them once every blue moon.
