Should I shorten these curtains?

I currently tuck my lounge curtains behind the radiator so it heats the room properly, and I'm wondering whether I should shorten them so they finish in between the window sill and the top of the radiator.

Not sure what to do as the window sill and the top of the radiator are very close, and I wonder whether people outside would be able to see into the room under the curtains.

Any opinions or thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

I wouldn't as I think tucking them behind the radiator helps more with keeping the heat inside the room (as much as it can with a radiator under a window).

Ummm I’d personally leave them as they are if you are happy to tuck behind radiator. We had similar with our front window and had the curtains shortened very carefully to just sit above the radiator and window sill. Problem was they were light in weight and the warm heat made them billow out so the rising heat went behind them anyway!

no, don't shorten them. Better for insulation as they are and short curtains look a bit naff IMHO.

If you shorten them will the heat not go up behind them and not heat the room?

Yes I’d shorten them I couldn’t put up with them
Behind the radiator. Would loook much better if they were just sitting right above the radiator. Look at Dunelm website they have a birdie showing how to measure your curtains.

I wouldn't shorten them. The heat will travel up from the radiator into the gao between the curtains and the window pane. With the sofa already restricting the heat flow into the room, you'd be restricting it even further.
Also, you may find the bottom hem doesn't sit as flat if you take them up, and it could be annoying to people sitting on the sofa. Also would be more 'in your face' when they are drawn back.
I think they are fine just as they are.

flirty so you'd rather not look naff and be cold? OK then Confused

Shorten them a bit so that there's just enough fabric to tuck behind the radiator, but less fabric than now
