Paint and decorator charge?

Hi, does anyone know rough costs for a paint and decorator? Looking at having a new build 5 bed house done. As it's a new build, I'm assuming there will be no prep needed. Thanks!

We had a quote of £350 for one room, painting on new plaster and the skirtings, including materials.

How long is a piece of string?

Just walls? Or walls and ceilings? Skirting boards? Doors? Radiators? Staircase? Most have a day rate. It’ll depend entirely on whether you’re in the highlands of Scotland or central London as to how much this will cost you. Just ring a few! 😊

Usually It's a day rate and we pay 150 a day, couldn't begin to guess how many days though.

We pay a day rate of £125 a day, English Midlands.

£150 to £200 per person per day here close to London.

Don't be so sure that there won't be any prep needed cos it's a new build - popped plasterboard nails, blown Ames tapes and shrinkage around facings, skirtings can all appear in new build esp after a winter where the heating has been on

We are in the North and after renovating parts of our house over the last few years (new plaster and skirting like you describe) we normally pay £160-180 for a room, recently paid £350 for hall/landing and were charged £60 for our small bathroom ceiling. We don't get a brilliant spec though so for that price we normally do filling/caulking ourselves as all they seem to do is give it a rub down before painting.

FIL in a rural Northern location was quoted £3.5k for his entire newly renovated 3 bed bungalow.

I work all my estimates on the basis of a £120.00 a day and I live in Bedford but there's other decorators charging £150 - £200 per day.
But sometimes you can out price yourself so I try and keep it at a reasonable rate.
