Window shutters

My ancient Venetian blinds badly need replacing. I love the look of wooden shutters but I have brown oak windows and I don't know what would look nice.

Would you go for white, or try and match the colours of the windows; or even the colour of the room? The current blinds are the same as the window but I feel shutters in this colour may be too dark.

Anyone done this recently? And are they much much more expensive than blinds?

Go white it’s neutral and versatile plus it’ll really brighten your room
Yes shutters are more expensive than blinds but are a long term solution
I have white shutters in a period property, and love them

Shutters i’d say.

Would white look odd from the outside, against the oak grain windows?

Not in my opinion.
Take a walk around your area look at what other folk have done
