I got F&B Skimming Stone colour-matched at a Valspar mixing machine, in a tester pot. I really like it but it looks too dark in my bedroom, so the decorator mixed some with white. That looks lovely on the wall, and I want to paint my room in that colour. The question is how to get a big tub of that colour.
Is it best to put some of the lighter mix on some cardboard and take that to the mixing machine to get it colour-matched? I'm concerned that that might end up with a different colour, as the mixing machine approximates to the nearest colour on its system. The colour sample that's on my wall is pale grey that's faintly mauve, but I'm concerned that a mixing machine might come up with a more mauve colour.
Or is it best to buy a big pot of the Valspar version of F&B Skimming Stone (colour-matched from the F&B swatch, like the tester pot), then add white at home and use that to paint the room? Or is it hard to mix properly at home - might it end up streaky?
Thanks so much for any advice on this!
