Marble tiles in bathroom? Opinions wanted.

DH and I are having our bathroom done soon.
We’ve seen beautiful marble tiles in Fired Earth which we’d like to use on the walls of the shower. We’ve been told we’d need to seal the tiles once a year.
Does anyone have marble tiles? What is the upkeep like? Anyone regret having them?

My brother and SIL.
It's been a big expensive faffing disaster. Despite finishing yearly it stained and looks grubby.

I had some in my old place and I actually found them relatively easy to clean! You want to avoid detergents that are acidic, but normal dish soap and warm water does the job. Also, we sealed every other month or so. Relatively quick process and well worth the effort.

Having had limestone in a previous shower we swore never to use real stone in a wet area again. Admittedly we never resealed them after installation.

There are some really excellent porcelain tiles that look like marble around. We are refurbing at the moment and will be using Marazzi AllMarble Altissimo in silk/honed finish in our shower (it comes in big sizes so less grout) and then real marble mosaic on the wall behind our vanity unit where it gets less wet.

Bit torn as I’ve really fallen for these tiles. I may have a look at Marazzi. Thank you. Smile

I have acquired stone with my flat.

Previously the property was tenanted and not looked after

Bathroom looks awful - the stone is really stained.
Upstairs neighbours are in a similar position & have just ripped their bathroom out.
