Insane preparation for cornicing - advice appreciated!

We are redecorating our DS's bedroom, which is large with very high ceilings. My DH has booked an experienced decorator to do just the cornicing part, using a special spray gun.

She has said we need to hire a platform on wheels (at £100 per week) then I need to sugar soap it all first, then spend about £50 on a special spray that does what a sander would do. Then I have to cover the entire room in plastic sheeting to protect it from the spray paint.

The platform is up and I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed. It's huge and to do what she's asked will mean moving most of the furniture out of the room to be able to move it around.

I'm actually thinking of sending the platform back, cancelling her and just doing it myself the old fashioned way, using a ladder, a duster and a paint brush! This way I can easily move around without having to move much furniture. It may take a bit longer but will be cheaper in the long and less disruptive to my son. Am I being naive?

I just dusted it and painted it with emulsion. It looks fine. You could wipe it first too

Only thing is if you cancel at this late stage she'll lose her income for that period. Plus costs of materials/platform

Am sure that’s the professional way but if you are not overly bothered by a perfect finish I would cancel her and get a decorator to do good old emulsion . I hoovered it with a handheld
But not thoroughly decorator used his brush ....
