tin of paint, a roller and tray and a 2 series box set

What sort of flooring do you need ? Lino ? Carpet?

Hushnownobodycares · 26/02/2019 10:02

I've bought wallpaper from Amazon at around £5 a roll several times, also from Next home in the sale who discount to around that. Otherwise as PP said free weekend, tin of paint and associated equipment. Just bear in mind emulsion won't cover gloss. Not that I ever tried or anything. Just sayin' Grin

Wilko paint is really good and often half price.

I wouldn't replace flooring in a house that wasn't mine. I'd buy large rugs that I could take with me.

I think I might buy big tubs of white paint as suggested and equipment I need new Lino and carpet , the carpet on the stairs is starting to thread it's that old and looks a mess , the lino has a home from wear and tear I feel really fed up living here when it looks so bad I feel like I can't let anyone in

Lots of groups on FB like this one are great for tips on budget decorating

On our fb marketplace there are often offcuts of lino and carpet for cheap or free. Worth a look?

Ohrobin · 26/02/2019 14:59

We brought the wooden look vinyl tiles from b and q. Really easy to lay down straight onto the concrete floor once we lifted the carpet and underlay. Bit fiddly round the door frames but otherwise quite easy and cheap. Looks nice too!

Or sign up to Freegle.

I run a local Freegle group and I regularly approve ads for giving away carpet/lino/laminate, as well as diy items like tins of paint or rolls of wallpaper. Also lots of furniture.

It's aim is to keep as much out of landfill as possible by giving stuff away to people who can still make use it.

Also, budget shops like Wilko, Home Bargains and B&M are really upping their game recently with their homeware, decorating and diy ranges

Thank you I will have a look it was the flooring that I think will be the biggest cost I just don't want to spend a lot when it's not my house but also can't bare how it is at present I feel like my house is scruffy
