Is it weird to hang a mirror in the kitchen?

Our house is very open plan. My kids get dressed for school downstairs in the living room area, which works well for our routine. Now that they’re getting to the point of tying their own ties, etc., we really need a mirror for them to use. There is literally no place to hang it in the living room but there’s a nice wall in the kitchen area that would work well. I am planning to get a nice mirror with a decorative frame that matches the style of the house. Would you find it strange if someone had a mirror hanging in their kitchen?

No, not if the house is open plan.

In fact, we have an open plan kitchen and have one in ours, as we often leave by the side door and I like to be able to quickly glance at my birds nest hair and rushed make up before we leave the house..

Our kitchen is north facing and quite dark, so we have a large mirror on the wall above the kitchen table, to reflect light from the window.

It never been occurred to me that anyone would think it weird.

Never even

No I'm planning to when I do my kitchen in my new house.

Mirrors can work anywhere and are great at spreading light around and making the space look bigger. On a wall where there is a practical use for them as you describe would be perfect imo.

I have a kitchen/diner & have a pretty mirror in an alcove above a small cupboard, where I do my makeup/dry my hair it’s never occurred to me that it might be a bit odd.

We have a big mirror above a sofa in our kitchen at right angles to a large window. It bounces the light and looks great

I have never seen a mirror in a kitchen, but realistically it's a great idea. My kitchen is small and quite dark.
I think I will have to start looking for one

Not at all! I have nice one in my kitchen to bounce some extra light around. Having said that, can't think I've seen one in anyone else's kitchens recently!
