Big plants/trees indoors

We don't have much outdoor space and have been thinking of a few bigger plants for indoors. Quite a lot of our home is open plan, too. I'd welcome your tips on what works and where to buy these please! Something in the region of 1m tall and leafy would be super. No idea where to get a good decorative plant pot either, was going to try charity shops first.

Hi,

Ikea sells a lot of larger houseplants for lower prices than our local garden centres.

My favourites are
Weeping fig/ ficus ficus
Swiss chess plant/ monsters
Dragon plant/ dracaena

This might also be worth a read:

I hope this helps!

I have a rescued olive tree - was looking very sorry for itself end of last season when I got it at a reduced price but has perked up over winter, found a large stone effect planter in the sale too

What about trailing plants on shelves - variegated ivy etc ?

We have a big kentia palm in a large black and white wicker pot in our sitting room also a peace lily in a 3 legged stool thing that everyone seems to have at the mo.

I got the palm from Homebase and the planter from Not on the High Street

Wonderful! Thanks very much. Trailing plants on shelves seem a bit inefficient in terms of getting a decent block of greenery, if that makes any sense. I've been eyeing up a three legged stool thing myself!

Just make sure you don't have anything toxic to any pets you may have. I have a corn plant in the bathroom. In 18 months it's gotten perhaps 50% bigger and looks lovely.

Our local sainsburys has started selling large indoor pot plants for between £12 and £15
