Not against a wall
Bit like this?

Where is your tv?
Is it awkward to watch, at a funny angle?

Yes.
Tv is in another room. 😂 that’s probably not very helpful... sorry!

clary · 08/02/2019 22:57

We used to, in a 12ft sq room. The TV was behind the one on the right, in the corner of the room. It was OK actually. You sat in the far corner and turned round.

autumnboys · 08/02/2019 23:02

Yes. Our lounge is long & thin, door is halfway down one of the long walls with the log burner opposite. At one end we have two sofas facing one another, with a coffee table in between. At the other end is large sofa with tv opposite. Sliding door into useless conservatory at that thin end, windows at the other end. Works okay.

namechangedforanon · 08/02/2019 23:03

That layout is for a formal sitting room ... you wouldn't have a tv in that room

MyShinyWhiteTeeth · 08/02/2019 23:03

A friend does and it looks awful. They have no table between them and the room is too small. The TV is at at uncomfortable angle.

I think if the room is large enough and the TV is elsewhere it can look ok.

My friend's room would be much better with one aligned next to the large front window and the other aligned at right angles to it, against the wall.

popcornwizard · 08/02/2019 23:05

Yep. Tv one end, fireplace at the other. Big room would look silly with furniture around the edges, and we like to chat rather than sit in a row staring at the screen. The pause button is used often.

Sometimes I sit curled nearest the tv, sometimes far end with legs up looking directly towards.

Parthenope · 08/02/2019 23:06

Yes, either side of the fireplace, but we don’t have a tv.

PhilODox · 08/02/2019 23:09

We do... but no television.

daipaned · 08/02/2019 23:14

My parents have a set up like the attached diagram Grinusually my Dad sits on the sofa facing the tv with his legs up and anyone else sits on the massive 5 seater on the other side.

Boxlikeahare · 10/02/2019 08:26

Yes I do in my snug. Sofas are about 8ft apart with a footstool between them and the TV is on the wall above the fire on the right hand side of one, obvs left hand side of the other.

Works fine.

What’s that about then, my house, my rules!

MrsBertBibby · 10/02/2019 08:35

We do. Main sofa facing window. Fireplace on its right. Second sofa in square bay. Telly in the alcove between chimney breast and window bay.

If we are all watching TV in there, the window sofa gets angled round a bit.

minipie · 10/02/2019 20:03

I used to. TV was tucked to the side of one of the sofas.

To be honest I didn’t like it that much in reality, it felt ever so slightly weird and formal when friends came round, but it did look nice and was all that room would allow anyway (odd shaped room).

m0therofdragons · 10/02/2019 22:07

My friend does and it's really weird and awkward.

Parker231 · 10/02/2019 22:12

We do but the tv isn’t in that room.

mrsm43s · 21/02/2019 14:41

We have that layout, but no TV in the living room.

I don't think it would work if you want to use the room to watch TV. The point of the two sofas facing each other is that its the best layout for chatting. I can't think of where a TV would go that would be comfortable to watch.

dontcallmelen · 21/02/2019 16:46

We do, one sofa is in a square alcove where the windows are.
Chimney breast in between then other sofa opposite window wall the tv is on a cabinet facing the chimney breast/fire, it looks ok I think as it’s a through room & the sofa divides the room so doesn’t look like a corridor, will see if I can find a pic as it’s hard to explain.

Chasingsquirrels · 21/02/2019 16:54

Mine are opposite each other, but against the walls,
TV at the end of the room (I'm standing up against the patio doors).

Chasingsquirrels · 21/02/2019 16:55

Pictures won't post.

Widowodiw · 21/02/2019 17:01

Yes we do. Tv is in the middle on the end wall.
Not and issue watching and it doesn’t look weird. Room is wide enough though and tv not too
Big.

dontcallmelen · 21/02/2019 17:21

My pics the larger sofa is where I sit by the table in the alcove.
Dh sits on the opposite sofa by the fire, (sometimes he sits on the end of ‘my’ sofa depends on his mood😄)so both can see the television it’s only two of us usually so it’s ok, when we have family/friends over the television isn’t on.

dontcallmehelen I love your sofas can I ask where they’re from please?

dontcallmelen · 21/02/2019 20:13

Thehop they are the bluebell model from sofa.com, super comfortable & very hardwearing, they are about five years old & I think still look pretty good.

Horispondle · 24/02/2019 10:50

We did, but no obvious place for a tv in the room (lots of windows and a large fireplace). Ended up dragging one sofa through to the other room with the tv in it. It was lovely having the two sofas facing each other for when visitors came, but in reality we congregated where the tv was, no matter what!

Bloodybridget · 02/03/2019 12:07

Yes. Telly is at right angles to the larger sofa, usually one of us is lying on this sofa and the other in an armchair facing the telly. We can move the smaller sofa round for telly-watching if necessary. One of those rooms where there isn't really another option for furniture placement.
